You read this befor you made the mostt disapointing choice. do not go to mags. DJ jimmy plays outdatted music, the crowed is nothing but queeens who have no jobs, no money, and hade to do something fowl to get club addmission money. they FIGHT HERE ALOT.

Great location and fun space with a great outdoor area to sit, chat and smoke. Small but fun dance floor. Great cocktails! The rub? Fridays are black lesbian night. When I called, no one told me. When I showed up early at 9:30, no one told me. Slowly, I looked around and found out. Had a great time, but it was not exactly what I was looking for and some of the patrons were less than happy to see me- and I totally understand. Place was packed though! Apparently, Saturdays are country line dancing night- talk about a 180 y'all.

This bar was truly special to me! I had so much fun and great times back in the 90 s!! This was a place dance the night away,great drinks,wonderful friends to hang with! This bar was loved by many!Locals and out of towners! One of St.Louis Best Gay Bars back in the day! I will always have great memories of this place!! Mags always brought everyone together! You will be missed but not forgotten!!!! :)

Hot gay hip hop urban scene

I dig mags and I'm a stud, been going on and off for atleast 2-3yrs. I love the hip hop scene, not everybody wants to dance techno/rave/hopped on ex type of music. I'm glad it is here because we don't have a lot. Everybody else plays the techno stuff. When I'm in a techno mood I hit novaks or something. I love it because it's gay men and women not just a one sided type of club. It can get super packed when the summer hits. Only con I have is when people don't act their age, and ruining it for others. Which can happen at any club. Don't hate on mags u like what u like, find a club that plays it and go THERE!

Mag's is still around, but not like it used to be. This is the bar that JJ's and Bad Dog both grew out of, but is not the same bar it was in its hey day. On Friday night it is a black crowd with mostly black women. It is 25 and up and a $4 cover charge which goes towards your 1st drink. It is a 3 AM bar/club that gets crowded as the night moves on. Late at night there is a line to get in. The dance floor gets crowded. The drinks are a little pricey. On Saturday night there is country line dancing no cover charge and one Sat. a month a drag show (costs $2 to attend). During the week it is usually empty with just the martini bar open. Old Magnolias Gone Forever!!!!

This was truly one of St Louis s best gay bars around.Had a wonderful drag show,great club music,and very cute guys here.The bartenders made strong drinks that would make anyone look cute,LOL!I miss the old Mags.I was here recently and just not worth going to.Drinks were watery,and few people here.Mags is gone forever as far as being packed on the weekends like it used to be.Those were the good old days.Great times- Great memories! :)

There is hardly anyone here on the weekends.Been here twice and dead.Rap music is not going to bring people in unless you are a hood rat.I remember when this bar was packed back in the day.Wow what a change!!!!Not in a good way either.:(

Coming from Atlanta,(in Carbondale,IL shortly) Found this club while I was in the ''Lou'' and I liked it. People need to understand that there are many clubs for different types of people. So if you dont like this club or Hip Hop music, then may I suggest partying elsewhere. Just because one is gay or transgendered, doesn't mean they always want to listen to Techno or a Bass drum and Snare alternating beats while people spazz out on the floor. There is nothing wrong with 1 club in the whole friggin city playing Hip Hop and R & B.

Went here and there was no one here????The music they had playing was rap.A happening gay bar doesnt play that kind of music.We want to dance to some great music.The bartender looked like he was fallen asleep.I am amazed that this place is still open.A real disappointment! :(

Such a storied past to such a sad present

I have heard stories about this place back in the day, It is hard to believe it is the same bar, I like the space they have and the staff seems allright, it's just so quiet in there, I would love to see them be able to rise again to their former glory, but they would need some drastic changes, especially in the music department, Drop the hip-hop and inject some proper dance music and you would be partway there.

Love the music. Though some may think that because you dont constantly hear techno it is not supporting a gay community where I am from and in most major cities in the south the gay clubs only play Hip Hop! It's called keeping up with the times. LOL! Late queens are sooo funny!

Close this bar.Not a great place like it was in the 90 s!Been here a few times and all they play is shit rap music.Alot of us dont care for that crap.Not alot of guys here either.This used to be one of the best clubs in St.Louis.Wish it could come back but I am sure that is not going to happen.St.Louis bars have gone down hill real quick.Need to fly to other cities for a fun weekend! :(

The bartenders were great for a while and then the staff seemed to change. The ones there seem to hate life and feel fixing a customer a drink is a hassle. Might help if they actually smiled and tried to give some real customer service

This bar was wonderful 10 years ago! What happen to it I dont know! Went there a while ago and was shocked how terrible the bar became!The guys are unattractive and the music was sad!Bring back the old Mags were it was so much fun to dance get a great cocktail and meet some fine guys!
