Gateway Pole Dance Competition: Midwest Regional Semi-Finals

Michelle Mynx Academy of Pole Dance is proud to present the Gateway Pole Dance Competition: Midwest Regional Semi-Finals! The first place winner of the Gateway Pole Dance Elite Division will go on to compete for the coveted title of Midwest Elite Performer of the Year 2013! Pole Dancing has evolved into an amazingly diverse acrobatic art form in recent years and this event will celebrate that. With three different divisions covering all levels and many styles, you are sure to see a variety you've possibly never expected from pole dancing. The Essentials division is all about the dance, movement, and unique spins . The Polesque division will celebrate the beautiful and titillating relationship between burlesque and pole dancing. And The Elite division will showcase the very best and most impressive technique and tricks. Dancers from all over the Mid West first had to apply by video submission and those competing on March 2nd are the chosen finalists. They will perform in front of an esteemed panel of well respected judges from the Pole community- Phoenix Kaxree- the 2011 California Pole Dance Champion, the 2011 Pole Dancing Universe Amateur Champion, and the 2nd place winner of the 2011 and 2012 American Pole Fitness Championships, Aerial Amy- an amazing instructor and performer who has made a name for herself with her fantastically insightful blog filled with tips on tricks and other pole related issues, and Mary Ellyn Weisseman- founder of Empowerment Through Exotic Dance and Mid West Pole Dancing, she is an absolute powerhouse in the pole community and continues to build and inspire the community at large and dancers , instructors, and studio owners every day. We are thrilled to have Showcase performances by these extraordinary women plus Mynx Academy performers- Horchata Dentana, Ricky Phoenix, Ambi Sextrous, and Ray Gunn- award winning choreographer and burlesque performer who is one third of the fabulous Boylesque troupe, The Stage Door Johnnies, and St. Louis' very own ground breaking acrobatic pole dancing burlesque duo, Gravity Plays Favorites made up of the lovely and feisty Katrina Dohl and Michelle Mynx herself! The whole event will be hosted by the cunningly comedic and adorably sexy Mimi Le Yu! The Gateway Pole Dance Competition is proudly sanctioned by Mid West Pole Dancing and honored to be sponsored by X-Pole, St. Louis' favorite alternative boutique- Cheap TRX, and others. Doors will open at 5pm for a cocktail hour while you enjoy a variety of vendors from the St. Louis area including art work and photography by Gina Simon and Virginia Harold, and you can even get a massage from Sara Newberry of Remedy Massage Studio.
