On National Coming Out Day on October 11th, we celebrate coming out as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or as an ally and also explore the complexities of what that means.
This evening of celebrations at the Missouri History Museum will feature various local organization booths where attendees can get information about resources in their community. We will also offer a brand new production of playback theatre around the theme of “LGBTQ, Allied Lives, and Coming Out Stories.”

Playback theatre is a highly specialized improv form in which performers invite stories from audience members and then perform or “play back” the stories on stage in a variety of formats, including song. The event is free of charge and community tabling will be available from 6-7:30pm. The playback performance starts at 7:30pm and will conclude by 9pm.
Please join us artistic director Joan Lipkin, associate director Theresa Masters and our great cast including Michael Barrows-Fitzgerald, Tamira Brennan, Clayton Bury, Brandey Chandler, Howie Hirshfield, Cammie Middleton, Nancy Nigh, Carl Overly, Jr., Lauren Rubin, Denise Saylor, along with musician Bob Baker to celebrate the 28th anniversary of National Coming Out Day!
