More of gay Cheers than anything
Although this bar is right around the corner from me ive only been here twice neither of which were weekend nights so my experiance maybe different. The impression that i got was that this is more of a nebiorhood bar with a loyal costumer base were everybody knows everybody. With that said the bartender was a nice lady and the costumers very friendly. Ive been to other mixed bars were the lesbians arent welcome but here they went out of there way to welcome me. The 2nd time i went was on a sunday afternoon and it was pretty much a group of people there for a guys 50th again they were very welcoming and even cut me a slice of his cake.
Avoid it like the plaque
Avoid Hummel's like the you'd avoid the plaque. Because the place is infested with white trash south side hoosiers and bums who are there only to hustle drinks. Drag entertainers too, few of them have real jobs so they use the place to hustle money and whatever. So many problems festered for so long the place closes most weekend nights before 1 a.m. for a 130am license because the cops are watching their clientele very closely. Bar service is poor and the food is greasy and will clog your arteries in seconds. Oh yes, forgot to mention - if you don't like smokers, don't go here. They allow smoking and the place is so small you can smell it before you even walk in the door. I used to be a customer but haven't stepped foot in the place for a a year and haven't missed it a bit.

i love love love this bar!! great atmospher!!! great shows except on saturday. bartender is the shit!! sweets lady ever!!! drinks are always perfect!! i cant get enough of this bar
HUMMEL'S PUB - S. Broadway/Carondelet area bistro
Nice place, 2 doors down from KORNERS, at the corner of S. Broadway @ Blow St. Nice bar menu and nightly dinner specials at a good price, generous portions and everything tastes great! Drinks are pretty good and priced well. Nice patio in the spring/summer. Kareoke and drag shows on weekend evenings. Gay/straight/lesbian crowd, male and female bartenders, with plenty of street parking. Packed for the shows on weekends, nice mellow, mixed crowd during the week. A nice place!
