great crowd of guys even on a Thursday

Very small bar but with a great, sexy clientele. (no twinks) This is the bar to meet attractive, real men it seems. Not very busy on the Thurs night I was in town, but the limited space made it feel busier and was conducive to cruising. Definitely recommended.

on a good nite

On a good nite (most weekend nites, from 10 or 11 on) this bar has some of the best dancing around, and the dj is great about reading the crowd and spinning accordingly. "Viewing Platform" in the back bar (where you can stand with a drink and look down on everyone - literally, not figuratively) is a riot.

Good place for fun night.

This is probably one of the best bars in St. Louis. Some of the more longstanding clubs in St. Louis have closed over the past years so some things have changed. They describe themselves as a bear, biker and leather bar and those are definitely the club's roots. However, the club is big and has a good dance club side and the clientelle has gradually evolved to be an ecclectic group of leather mixed with preppie/club kid, older/country bumpkin/traditional, older/younger, dancers/drinkers/chatters/players(pool and darts). It can be a fun place to go with some friends almost no matter what you like to do. If you have dancing in mind it helps to call ahead and make sure they don't have any special events going on in the clubhouse (the dance floor section). Sometimes they have special events and the dance floor is closed or they are not playing dance music. I agree with other reviewers that the DJ's leave a lot to be desired. They are not very good at tailoring their music to the group. There are plusses and minusses to the place, but I its usually a fun place to go. One good thing is they almost never have a cover charge so you can always try it and go somewhere else if its not your kind of place.

there's always 2 sides

JJ's has been part of the community for over a decade and has donates lot's of $$ and time to many charities. It accepts all patrons over 21 & provides a regular good old bar to hang out in with little pretense. The staff is helpful without being snobbish. I'm sure everyone has a bad day once in a while but don't we all? the dj has improved & is playing more music people want to dance to. My friends like making it a part of our night out. there may be some things others might have issues with but for the most part they get it right.
